Prachi practices law and divides her time between India and the USA. As an accomplished lawyer with expertise in cross-border legal issues, she has built a distinguished career navigating the complex legal landscapes of both countries. Prachi is married into a notable political family, her father-in-law being the esteemed Governor Edward Breathitt.
Governor Breathitt served as the 51st Governor of Kentucky and was a key figure in the state’s political history. He was closely associated with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and became the first Southern Governor to sign the Civil Rights Bill. On January 27, 1966, he signed the Kentucky Civil Rights Act of 1966 into law, marking a significant milestone as the first civil rights legislation enacted in a southern state. This groundbreaking law prohibited discrimination in employment, public accommodations, and housing based on race, color, religion, or national origin. Dr. King hailed it as “the strongest and most comprehensive civil rights bill passed by a southern state.”
Governor Breathitt’s legacy of championing civil rights is commemorated by a statue in his hometown of Hopkinsville. Prachi takes great pride in being part of a family with such a profound impact on social justice and civil rights in the United States. Her legal career is inspired by her father-in-law’s dedication to equality and justice, and she continues to uphold these values in her work.
